Little Loves #1 – Enjoyment

Enjoyment #LittleLoves wotw

I came across this great idea from ‘Coffee Work Sleep Repeat’ as I was looking for some kind of positivity prompt, some way to recall the good and the enjoyment in our everyday lives.

The idea behind the posts is that they are a weekly chance to remember the little things you’ve loved that join up to make your week. You don’t need to be a parenting blogger to join in, all bloggers are welcome!

So here’s my first attempt, pulled together over the summer weeks when I got to revisit some of the things I enjoy and don’t usually have the time for:

The Couple Next Door Book review
The Couple Next Door

I’ve finally found time to read a whole book while I’ve been away! Yay! This is a rare thing for me as I always seem to have so much else to do. The first book I read right through (ie didn’t lose patience with and put down!), was The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. I quite enjoyed it, although it was a little predictable for me. I’ve also found enjoyment flicking through some magazines – luxury!

I really enjoyed watching the Olympics last week, when TV was actually switched on! I love how it connects the whole family, and also motivates my children to try new sports, which is a bonus!

I’ve heard a lot of random stuff from my kids recently! I wrote a post about it, but then my youngest didn’t want me to publish it because it was ‘too embarrassing’! However, a bizarre way of looking at dates gone by was thought up by my eldest, and I wrote about it in A Marche Against Time

I absolutely love crafts, and had hoped to blog about the things I make much more (hence the blog name!). However, I often find I’m so busy blogging, that I don’t have the time to be making! So, another indulgence I’ve allowed myself during the summer holidays is crochet. I bought some yarn which my eldest helped me to choose, so the first thing I made was a lovely scarf for him. He is so delighted that he actually wore it all evening, even though the temperature was reaching into the 30’s at the time!

This is the crochet scarf that Hugo wore! ^^

I had the opportunity to review where I was going with my blog over the summer. I decided it needs to move much more in the direction of making things and making memories (mostly from travel), so I almost scrapped this post and the whole #littleloves idea.

Then I thought “What the Hell” and decided to roll with it anyway, because I want to! Life is for living, right? So here I am! And here’s another random picture, just because I can, and I’m feeling a little rebellious. It’s from our garden this summer. Hope you don’t mind?

    1. Absolutely – it’s the little things that make a difference to our relaxation and happiness xx

  2. So pleased that you decided to join in! As much as it’s important to have a ‘niche’ it’s equally important to remember that it’s your little space on the Internet and you can do want you want with it 😉
I love the crochet scarf, wish I was more crafty!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend x

    1. Thank you so much, and I’m making the most of it before he reaches the stage of ‘wouldn’t be seen dead in something Mum made!’

  5. Always make your blog work for you and not the other way round is my advice from long bitter experience. Never do the “shoulds” and focus on the “want tos” So many of us Mums struggle to do the things we love to do like reading which I have found impossible pretty much for 15 years which upsets me . I have recently made myself read by setting time aside every day for it that is non-negotiable. Good to find your blog and hear more about your life.

    1. Thank you Kate, for your advice and your kind words. They are much appreciated x

  6. It always seems like such a big event when we get to do things that we are really interested in and want to do but never get the time to! I can’t remember the last time I read a book cover to cover and I didn’t get to see all of the olympics that I wanted to because it was either tea time or nap time or something else. Well done you for getting some ‘you’ time! 🙂 #fabfridaypost

    1. Thank you Jade, it was a real luxury!

  7. Little things, no matter no small, can make all the difference can’t they?! Great that you were reading, I’ve managed to read a newspaper a few weekends over the summer and this was always my Sunday indulgence before the children came along. Just being able to do that now, a little thing like reading a newspaper, can seem quite indulgent and very satisfying!
It’s good to have time off to review the direction of your blog – sounds like you have it sorted!

    1. Little things make a big difference! Thanks for your kind words Tracey, although I’m not sure I have it sorted, I change my mind like the weather!!

  8. I love your crochet scarf! It is beautiful! I have the same problem with making and blogging. I love to make. I tend to make so man things but never have time to blog about it. I love this #LitteLoves idea. It make you feels like good when looking back at happy things doesn’t it. xx

Thank you so much for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost
