Best Laminate Flooring – Top Tips for Buyers

As you may know, we recently moved house. We love where we live, but often as time goes on, the desire to personalise your space becomes stronger. Making a property feel more ‘your own’ and more like home can take time and effort, not to mention money too.

Decorating your home on a tight budget can be stressful. Trying to juggle what you can afford with the vision of what you really want can leave you a little deflated. Luckily when it comes to flooring choices you don’t have to compromise. Laminate flooring is made from a high density fibreboard and covered in a hyper-realistic decorative layer which enables luxury hard wood or modern tiled designs to be imitated. With advances in modern technology, the quality of the designs is very impressive and priced significantly lower than the premium alternatives too. Making your dream home not only achievable but affordable!

With a huge range of designs to choose from, laminate is the perfect option for the trend setters amongst us or those simply looking for low cost stylish flooring. From the character and charm of hardwood to the supreme finish of high gloss tiles – there’s a design for every home and budget.

Light laminates are renowned for the ability to elevate a room, bringing a fresh uplifting feel and brightening the surroundings. Whilst modern trends have seen a surge in light coloured laminates, light wood tones are also extremely popular for family homes. This is due multiple reasons, one of the most significant being the ability to disguise any minor scratches and marks. Often accumulated from excessive traffic or forgetting to clip our lovely pets claws, scratches can be a real eye sore on dark woods. So unless you’ve invested in some doggy socks, stick to lighter shades.

Tip: Laminate flooring is fast and efficient to install. The click lock system means the boards simply click together. Perfect for DIY installations!

Laminate flooring featuring authentic knots and grains are designed to replicate the look of traditional solid wood. However the modern whitewash finish on this particular range contrasts brilliantly to emphasize the detail in the grain. If unique styles are what you’re after then laminate flooring has a huge array of patterns, prints and designs to express your creative flare.

Tip: Narrow plank widths elongate the length of the room to create the illusion of a bigger open space. Perfect for small areas.

Grey laminate flooring is trending in the industry and with results like this it’s no wonder why. As one of the most versatile flooring shades, grey flooring blends effortlessly with furnishings and décor. Perfect for avoiding those dreaded colour clashes – we’ve all been there!

For those who love to keep up to date with the latest fashions, grey flooring simply radiates modern style.

Tip: Wider boards are great for showcasing the detail in the plank and are much more efficient to fit. Less boards are needed to cover a greater space, making the fitting process much quicker and easier.

Tile effect laminate is not only practical but looks fantastic too. This dark grey stone effect is ideal for dining or living areas which are prone to those little accidents. Whilst real hardstone flooring is difficult to repair, a damaged laminate plank can simply be unclicked and replaced – saving you a fortune in additional flooring.

Laminate In General

Laminate flooring is one of the most hygienic, easy to maintain, easy to fit flooring ranges which more than justifies its worth. As one of the cheapest forms of wood flooring on the market, it’s no wonder it’s extremely popular for home projects. For maximum results, don’t forget a good quality laminate underlay will make all the difference in terms of performance and comfort.
