I’ve shared a few photos recently on Instagram and Facebook from this little evening outing. Paul and Hugo were out walking the dog, and knew immediately when they saw the way the light was hitting the fields that I’d want to see it and photograph it. So they kindly came back for me and drove […]
Sadly, we had a huge tree come down here at Chataigne House in France. Part of it fell down in a storm, and it took another two leylandii which were forming an archway to the pool area with it. We were lucky it didn’t land on the pool house or heater. But unfortunately, it meant the […]
It’s always disappointing when you arrive abroad and the weather is no better than that you left at home. However, I’m consoling myself with the fact that it was quite dull when we arrived in France last year, and it soon brightened up enough for pool time and outdoor barbecues!
Is that the phrase? Or is it take time to smell the roses? Well, you get the idea! Slow down, appreciate the beauty of nature that is all around you. Otherwise, you’re missing so much. I couldn’t resist snapping this beautiful rose in our garden – such lovely colours.

Washing their hands in this water flow as they came off the beach seemed to cause much hilarity…. Until I jokingly told them it was the water flowing out from the pub toilets nearby!! “Ugh, Dad!!!”
What an absolute treat to find ourselves all alone at Alnwick Castle! Well, not quite alone, but with so few people that we managed to get a few rare shots of the castle and grounds without anyone in them! What’s the secret? Well, you can see from the skies it had turned into quite a cold […]
I’m starting them young! Toby shows the best way to reach the bar when you’re only short! I introduced the family to my local this week. A great place quite near to us, called the Hemelvaart Bier Cafe, which does a fantastic range of craft beers and some great food too. Just so they know […]
